If you are like most people when you think of mountain ranges it is with a wonder and awe. Your minds’ eye conjures up pictures of Majestic snow capped steeples rising to meet the sun and a lush panoramic view of the surrounding country side. Well, my friends that are just what they are and here are descriptions of 8 of the most beautiful Mountains in the world.

The Pumori Mountains of Tibet whose name means “unmarried daughter” stands on the Nepel – Tibet border named by George Mallory it is also sometimes referred to as Everest’s daughter. It is a sought after spot for avid mountain climbers and can be an inexpensive holiday.

2. Mount Everest

Glorious Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world and attracts climbers of all skill levels. The mountain is situated on the border between Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal and Tibet, China. It is 8,848 feet above sea level. The major draw backs of ascending Mount Everest are altitude sickness and avalanches.

3. Kilimanjaro

It is said that nothing quite compares to the view from Kilimanjaro. This inactive volcano located on the Tanzania in Africa is the tallest in that country. It towers over the Serengeti at height of 5,893 feet. Many a climber shell out big bucks every year just to experience this mountain.

4. Ama Dablam

If you want to go further east in Nepal, you will find the majestic Ama Dablam. It is located in the Himalaya range of eastern Nepal. The name of this mountain means “mothers’ necklace” as the ridges gives the impression of a mother wrapping her arms securely around her child. It is a decent climb and sees it share of enthusiast.

5. Mountain Machapuchare

In north central Nepal, there is the famed Mountain Machapuchare, revered by the locals as belonging to the “God” Shiva. It is lower than most of the mountains in this area of the world but striking none the less. It has twin peaks that resemble a fishes’ tail and is worthy of the time it would take to scale its summit.

6. Matter Horn

The Matter Horn in the Pennine Alps   dominates the skies as it sits boldly on the borders of Switzerland and Italy. This was the last great Alpine mountain to be crested and that happening brought an end to what has come to be known as the golden age of Alpinism. It is still a hot spot on the, do list for most climbers and well worth the trip.

7. Bolivia

Bolivia has one of the most remarkable mountains a climber could ever traverse. The Sajama is an extinct stratovolcano located in what is now the Sajama National Park. Although the peak is rather isolated what makes it unique is its geological complexity. The lava domes are made up of andesitic and rhyodactic composition. This gives geologist and thrill seeking climbers a lot to mull over.

8. Mountain Ranges

Finally one of the worlds most magnificent Mountain Ranges, The Rockies, is shared by two countries. The United States and Canada both can lay claim to a part of this wonderful collection of peaks. This mountain range stretches some 3,000 miles from British Columbia in Western Canada to the plains of New Mexico in the United States. Fortunately for us most of this mountain range is protected and will be here for future generations to enjoy.
It doesn’t matter if you are not a climber all of these mountain destinations offer a variety of fun activities such as hiking, fishing, camping Skiing and even snowboarding. What ever you are into it is worth the nickel to make at least one of these 8 beautiful mountains a part of your to do list.
