Setting up a wireless router in your own home is not as hard as other might think. Some might even hire professionals to install this for them. Actually, setting up a router can be done easily especially when you are guided properly and clearly.

Also, home users sometimes forget to set up their wireless with security password that makes their connection public and can be used by others.   The initial set up of a linksys router and how to put a password are easy steps to make sure that you are the only user of your internet connection.

Step 1 Physical Set up

Routers should be placed in a Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN). You must attach the router to the internet provider using a cable on the plug with a label “Internet”. Then get another cable to attach the linksys router to your PC.  There several slots that you can use with numbers 1,2,3,4, and so on. Make sure that cables are placed properly.

Step 2 Configuration

You might find a Wizard Set up but it is best not to use it to make the step easier.  Instead, open any of your internet browsers and type the URL a http://192.168.1.1/. Once done you will see a box where you will see a blank box for username and password. How to log into linksys router will be very easy since you do not need to put in a username. Just type the default linksys password as “admin”.

Step 3 Inputting password

Once you successfully logged, it is time for you t configure the linksys router settings. You can select your own setting based on your preference.  Since you are setting a wireless router, it will be best to choose SSID to make sure that the router is set up as your personal use. Then configure the WEP. SSID and WEP are the keys to make your wireless connection private instead of public use. Here, you ought to configure your personal password.

These simple steps how to set up your wireless router and how to ensure that no one can use your internet without a password.
